Choker of the Brood’s Embrace

Choker of the Brood’s Embrace

Wondrous Item, Legendary (Requires Attunement)
A birthday gift from Set’s brood to Eztli Serukhai, Queen of Dajjashi

Appearance

Braided from serpentine scales and black silk, the choker pulses faintly with a crimson heartstone at its center. Its surface ripples as though breathing. When worn, whispers echo in Eztli’s mind — a chorus of serpents speaking with one voice.

Properties

Brood’s Renewal. At the start of each of your turns, if you have fewer than half your hit points, you regain 1d10 + your Constitution modifier HP.

Serpent’s Restoration (PB/long rest). As a bonus action, you may invoke the brood’s blessing. For 1 minute:

  • At the start of each of your turns, regain 10 HP.
  • If reduced to 0 HP during this time, you instead drop to 1 HP and the effect ends.
  • Usable a number of times per long rest equal to your Proficiency Bonus.

Regeneration (Out of Combat). While attuned and not in combat, you regenerate 5 HP every 10 minutes. This regeneration also restores lost body parts (limbs, eyes, organs) over the course of 1d4 days, provided you remain attuned.

Broodbond. When you would take a critical hit, you may choose to negate the critical and take normal damage instead. When you do, the choker “feeds,” dealing 1d6 necrotic damage to you at the end of your next turn.

Whispers of the Brood.

  • While attuned, you understand Abyssal, gain advantage on saving throws against fear, and can communicate directly with Set’s brood across planes. Their voices slither into your mind in many tongues at once — hungry, cryptic, and never silent.

Attunement & Bearing

The choker tightens gently when worn, as though claiming its bearer. Its whispers soothe and command in equal measure. To others it looks less like jewelry and more like a living collar, proof that Eztli has been acknowledged and bound as kin by Set’s brood.

Provenance

Given to Eztli as a birthday gift, the Choker of the Brood’s Embrace was not meant as adornment but as acknowledgment. In gifting it, Set’s brood marked her not as servant or wife, but as kin — one whose life and breath are entwined with theirs, forever echoing with their whispers.

Summary:
The Choker of the Brood’s Embrace grants Eztli continuous healing, limb regrowth, resilience against death, and communion with Set’s brood. It is both blessing and tether — ensuring her survival, while reminding her that the brood always listens.
