Born in Shadow
Zyn was born in the Shadowfell, a realm where memories rot and emotions fade into nothing.
Yet unlike most of his kind, he remained curious, ambitious, and unmistakably alive.
Where others grew numb, Zyn hungered for more.
The Syndicate’s Prodigy
At the age of fifty, Zyn was recruited by The Syndicate, a secretive order of spies, assassins, and dealers of forbidden knowledge who operated in service to the Raven Queen.
He quickly proved himself exceptional, mastering the art of elegant killing and refined swordplay, moving through violence with practiced grace. Just as deadly in conversation as in combat, he excelled at social infiltration, twisting truth and wielding charm as carefully as any blade.
As with every member, he was marked with The Syndicate’s sign:
a twisted black S tattoo set into the skin at the back of his neck, not as a badge of honor, but as a mark of ownership.
The Escape
While on assignment in the Material Plane, Zyn took his chance. He betrayed his handlers, stole a small ship, and vanished into the world of Maris. That choice determined everything that followed.
The Syndicate does not forget. It does not forgive.
From that moment on, Zyn was a permanent target.
The Pirate Captain
He reinvented himself as a pirate and rose to become a captain, embracing a life of danger, freedom, and theatrical flair. Stylish heists and impossible escapes followed wherever he sailed, and hearts were broken across a dozen harbors along the way. His name spread through whispered rumors and dockside tales, growing with every telling. Now he commands his own ship and a crew of daring misfits, drawn to him by charm, talent, and the promise of trouble.
