MartMart Retention Services

Often semi-facetiously referred to as the "MartMart death-squads," MartMart Retention Services is the corporate branch of MartMart International tasked with providing corporate security and loss-retention services for the international retail giant. Little is known of MMRS' true reach or leadership structure outside of MartMart itself, their most visible members being little more than greeters and security guards at local stores, but what is know is that mercenaries of uncertain origin clad in auto-armor and wielding weapons skirting the boundaries of the established rules of war (to the extent that those exist) have been encountered in connection with remote MartMart facilities, such as stock warehouses, favored air shipping ports, and mobile marketplaces in places where the normal rule of law holds little sway. These mercenaries respond to no hails and, to the extent possible, have acted to leave no witnesses as to their activities in these locations. The notion that these mercenaries are extensions of MartMart Retention Services have not been confirmed - and these mercenaries may eventually, in fact, prove to be working for competitors or even commerce raiders - but the notion that one of the largest conglomerates under the Manifold Sky is operating a secret private army has inspired conspiracy theories and pop-culture references alike across the cultures of the Human Arc.
