Void Magic

Void magic is a source of power that comes from forming a connection with The Void itself. The power that comes from the leyline powers other mages, but for those that draw upon the void this energy is corrupted. The energy takes on a life of its own, both amplifying and changing the nature of the magic being used.  

Nature of Void Magic

Void magic specializes in the manipulation of the physical, particularly flesh. The energy can mend wounds with ease, enhance physique through mutations and modifications, transform people into dark creatures, and even summon strange and horrifying monsters from the void itself.   The magic naturally makes people feel uneasy in its presence. An area corrupted by void magic has a stale chill in the air. To witness the incantations and spells unsettles the mind as the very darkness of the void twists the world around the user.

Benefits

Void magic is inherently powerful. This is one the the largest draws to it as a means of casting magic. The other reason is the ease of access. Once one has made a connection to the void, it is easy for them to draw upon the dark power and cast spells with little training or practice.  

Dangers

The void is incredibly enigmatic and many secrets and horrors are connected to it. The more that someone taps into this power the more it seems to twist their very essence. They slowly begin to lapse into impulsive outbreaks. People being to become paranoid, fearful of those they once trusted, even begin to become hostile to friends sometimes to the point of violence.   One's physicals appearance also begins to change to match the darkened soul. The skin begins to take on a deathly pallor while hair starts to streak white. The eyes slowly darken and the skin around the eyes cracks, showing darkened flesh underneath. The person turns into a gaunt image of themselves, frail in appearance. They emanate the same disturbing aura and are eventually cast out by all. If one begins to show these signs near a Judge, you are likely to find yourself the target of a witch hunt.   Those that fall far enough become known as Spectres, terrifying individuals who seem to have lost all sense of self and connection to the world they once were a part of.  

Redemption

Those who find themselves corrupted by the influence of the void find themselves doomed to a lifetime under the chill grip of the darkness inside themselves. There are rumors of a way to purge the corruption, rumors of an ancient power connected to the void but free of its influence. But no credible evidence has been presented, meaning those who use the dark magics of the void will forever be apostates in the world of man.
