Description
Appearance
Mescalero are similar to elves in height and build. Their skin has a range of colors, mostly dark, ebony tones that blend in with the dark of night. On their head is a mixture of hair and feathers, with long tufts standing upright like a great horned owl's 'ears'. Their sclera are black, with irises that are bright yellow. Around their necks is a collar of fluffy, down feathers that matches their hair color. With all of these features, they are practically invisible and silent in the darkness.Statistics

History
Early history and supposed creation
It is speculated that Mescalero are one of the oldest, if not the first native species to Malgrave. Created by an unknown deity, they were once the messengers of disasters to come, trying to warn the other inhabitants of the world of incoming danger during the Reclamation War. Magical mastery had them raising the dead to continue fighting for the mortals of Malgrave. Eventually, the supersition of these two elements had the very people they tried to help drive them away or kill them, causing them to recluse themselves from the rest of the world and keep to themselves. Their numbers are scattered, each living in solitude, only finding a mate once in a great while before disappearing again. After the Age of Beginnings
There have been few sightings throughout history since their disappearance. Contrary to what people believe by legends or first impressions, they still seem to be gentle souls that wish to help when they can. They have raised heroes of old to save settlements and rescue those in need, most notably in secluded areas where the laws of mortals don't seem to reach.Player Characters
There are the rare occassions when a Mescalero will come out of hiding and explore the world. These are usually younger individuals who feel compelled to act upon the strong visions of danger and have yet to experience how fearful civilizations are of them.
