Malakum

Created by

Malakum is a world born of desire. It is said the first wish was not made by gods or mortals, but a star. This star desired to be wished upon, thus was its wish granted. The light from this granted wish attracted the attention of many great powers, and they beheld a chaotic world newly born in stardust. As the world settled into a semblence of order, the first god set foot upon the still roiling, rumbling and roaring maelstrom.   This god was Malakum, whom the world would be named after following its death. After the First Conflict where the gods rallied against the raging elements, the world at last was formed. From this new world, many mortal races arose and grew. They scattered across the land, the sea and the air as they founded communities and, eventually, civilizations. The gods, having found satisfaction with their work binding the raging elements, sought the Progenitor Star, the origin of the first wish. Gathering the remnant stardust of Malakum, the gods constructed a ship that would sail across the vast expanse towards the star. Once their work was complete, they departed Malakum, the worship of their followers propelling them through the void, though some of the gods remained upon Malakum.   But it was in their absence that a new threat would emerge. In an event that came to be known as the War of the Broken Sky, eldritch entities descended upon this world fat with desire. From this conflict civilization was brought to the brink of extinction, but new heroes were born from it as well. The introduction of Magically Linked Technology, or MaLinTech, led to the defeat of these otherworldly invaders and the rise of the Innovators, people blessed by Firtsi, the God of Innovation.   As Malakum recovered from the War of the Broken Sky, civilization built itself up once again. Many more nations, such as the Innovator nation of Create, rose and fell, and MaLinTech fell out of favor with Malakum due to its role in Create's attempted world domination. Now, scars of clashes past dot the landscape across Malakum, from old war machines damaged beyond repair to alien structures from beyond.   The world of Malakum continues to turn, with every denizen pursuing whatever desire drives them. While they all may worship different deities and chase down different dreams, all who look upon the night sky will always find the brightest star looking down upon them. And, sometimes, make a wish upon it. What will you wish for?
