When the Treaty was made, all grassland tribes pledged to worship the High Spirits, especially the Sun Spirit. One tribe refused. That made the Sun Spirit angry and he commanded his new believers to hunt down that tribe, chase them into the western mountain range so they would be separate from his people. The grassland tribes obeyed, eager to please their new master and fearful his wrath would be turned on them, and the rebel tribe was banished to the mountains, an environment completely foreign to them. Where the Mountain Spirit waited for his new playthings.   The descendants of that rebel tribe still live in the western mountains. They survived in a hostile environment ruled by a god bent on destroying them. They endured, and won't stop now.
