Mental characteristics
Personal history
He and his wife joined the Makkah spirit binders as young adults, both eager to learn and serve. He became a shaman, and she a warrior binder. They worked very successfully together, he staying in camp and directing spirits and spies across the grasslands, she venturing out with her squad to ambush trickster dens and track down shifters. They reunited at summer gatherings, but spent much of their married life separate. They never had children, something that makes Takoda wistful, and over the years have drifted apart until they only send messages to another rarely. He hasn't seen her for three cycles.

Male, he/him

Straight
Education
He has some combat training, but it's been decades since he's used any. He was trained as a shaman by some of the best in the grasslands.
Employment
He doesn't do too much work nowadays, but he travels with the Makkah spirit binders, communicating with spirits and advising Hiamovi about things he doesn't understand most of the time.
Accomplishments & Achievements
He's a skilled shaman and has made deals with the Grass Spirit themself.
Morality & Philosophy
Life is about serving the High Spirits to the best of your abilities.
Taboos
He's too proud to do the work of a "common medicine man" like tending wounds and making medicines. Also too old and proud to "common chores" like fetching meals and makes his apprentices to that for him.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Be respected and comfortable
Savvies & Ineptitudes
He's good at shaman work, horse riding, bossing people around, complaining, being confident, and believing himself to be great.
He's bad at painting, humility, combat, being nice, and letting others be the focus of attention.
Likes & Dislikes
He likes his mare, shaman work, the Grass Spirit, buffalo meat, painting, his tipi and all its comforts, gossiping, knowing other people's business and secrets, and being important.
He dislikes disrespectful youth, corn, the mountain tribe, and anything that isn't of The Cycle
Virtues & Personality perks
He's loyal and trustworthy. He can keep a secret (for a price).
Vices & Personality flaws
He's prideful, lazy, and selfish.
Hygiene
He keeps himself very clean and hates getting dirty.
Social
Contacts & Relations
He's met the Grass Spirit's high servants the Messenger and Buffalo Woman several times, something he is quite proud and smug about.
His proximity to the High Chieftain gives him some say and respect in the National Council despite not being a chieftain. He has quite a bit of political and spiritual power.
Family Ties
His only remaining family is his wife, who's been hunting tricksters near the northern marshes for the past . . . decade or so, with only the occasional reunion between them. No children, his siblings and parents long dead, his wife absent . . . he's basically alone.
Religious Views
He is very spiritual, his primary High Spirit being the Grass Spirit themself. Being a shaman of the Grass Spirit makes him very powerful.
Social Aptitude
He's introverted but very confident and sociable. He loves to attend celebrations until he gets tired and cranky and retires to his tipi, complaining about all the noise and ruckus he was a part of just before.
Hobbies & Pets
His favored horse is a palomino mare who hates the smell of blood. He goes on flower-picking expeditions with her.
When he's out "praying to the Grass Spirit" he rides out on his mare and gathers flowers. It's something he and his father would do together, until he left his family band and joined the Makkah spirit binders. He and his wife did it together as well, though less and less often as their paths slowly split and they drifted apart. Now he does it alone, just the flowers, his mare, and him.
Later those flowers are made into paint by his apprentices, and the old man will use the paints to decorate some poor scrap of buffalo hide. His paintings are terrible but he believes them to be masterpieces. He does not accept constructive criticism.
Wealth & Financial state
He's very wealthy, owning a small herd of horses he graciously loans out to camp workers.
