The Great Library of the Rannan Isles
The Great Library of the Rannan Isles, or the Great Library, for short, is the hub of the Libraries in Maikaa.
All other Libraries pale in comparison to the Great Library, which has the most information of all the Libraries. While other Libraries might have more information on one specific thing, the Great Library has both a great expanse of information, and a lot of information on things. If you want information on why cloud dragons can call up storms, or when the Dragon Runner-Vine was first bred, or how to get to Galyrin by using a boat, then the Great Library is the library to go to. If you want specific information on obscure dwarfish legend, then you can get basic information and where to go to get more from the Great Library (Coincidentally, the Galyrin Library is the best place to go to get this particular information).
Purpose / Function
The purpose of the Great Library of the Rannan Isles is to be a hub of information. The Great Library has at least a little bit of every bit of research that the Keepers have done. While the Great Library is not in the capital of Maikaa, it is still in an important city. The Great Library was originally the home of a noble family, but when the Rannan Isles were originally conquered by Cofiver, the family was killed. The Queen of Cofiver created a Library in the manor, and when the Rannan Isles rebelled against Cofiver, they kept the Library. Now the Great Library is the biggest Library in Maikaa.
Alterations
Walls in the Great Library have been knocked down so that there is more space for the stacks. However, the ceilings are still the same height as they've ever been. There haven't been many alterations, although a new wing of the Library is to be built soon to make space for more information.
Architecture
The Great Library is decorated in bright blues and greens, accented with gray. Light wood is used for the floorboards, and the inside is cheery, despite the imposing exterior.
History
The Great Library remains been one of the only buildings that haven't been razed to the ground during the wars in Maikaa. While Libraries are generally afforded this respect, some Libraries have been looted before. Not so the Great Library. Everyone in Maikaa knows of the Great Library, and respects the Keepers who work there as the most experienced researchers and best teachers.
Tourism
Researchers who respect the books, and people who just want to see an ancient landmark alike, if you come to the Rannan Isles, the Great Library is a must see. While there is a tour for those uninterested in the actual books, the Keepers who guide you will likely be condescending to those only interested in the Great Library due to it's fame. If you are a person who truly wishes to do research, then the Great Library and the Keepers in it will be great friends to you.
