Introduction:
As the continents of Magmoia are divided by decent size bodies of water, travel can be done relatively easy by small rowboats. Trade, travel, and warfare have all been structured around sailing for that reason. For the common folk of Magmoia small sailboats are a commonly owned property, while those without can be rent at most significant cities.
Trade:
Many of the farmers and or fisherman would not have access to the broader markets of the kingdoms without the use of little sailboats. The use of small boats by ordinary people drastically changed the way trading was done through the land. Citizens didn't need to live close to the main kingdoms or capitols to contribute to the Markets. Now with small sailboats being available everywhere, people were able to live further away from the main keeps bringing in a wider variety of resources. The overfishing and hunting in the land lessened as more people moved deeper into the wilderness. Overall trade increased, and with it, so did the communities around the kingdoms.
Travel:
With small rowboats being available everywhere, travel to the other realms started to become possible for many of the smallfolk. People began leaving homes in search of jobs in other realms. Sightseeing, hunting, and mercenary work all became more accessible with the connections formed from sailing.
Warfare:
Tactics in the land had to be adjusted due to a large number of small boats owned by the smallfolk. Even though they were little, large armies could ferry over a small area of water rather quickly with enough small ships.
The common practice of renting boats:
In large cities around Magmoia, the renting of small boats for people to fish, travel, and trade were available. Offering ships to rent offered an ample supply of resources to the kingdoms as many smallfolk who couldn't afford boats would still be able to rent.
Oh i like this, a way to expand exploitation to a better spread. Are the waters calm and safe enough for the smallfolk ? Cause it is not uncommon to have deadly fishing expeditions especiall on ea more semi modern (whale hunting time and such). Did that made for a certain need of sea patroller that can bring back shipwrecks and survivors. Is there piracy booming since it's harder to get bandits ton the act ? Just some questions like that. but a nice read !
Thank you for the comment and the insight Ill have to look into those!!
