TAKE HEED

Their hunting method is to drop on their prey from a great height. While it would probably not be lethal for a human size creature, it can cause much damage, so if they are known to be near – LOOK UP.

  Description:
Spectans lacertapila are flying reptiles with spherical bodies covered with tough scales. They have a wide, beak-like mouth with sharp teeth and two rather short legs with strong sharp claws. There is no clear separation between body and head, and five large eyestalks grow from the top of the spherical body. They have very good sight, and with five eyes, they have no blind spots and are practically impossible to surprise.
Both the eyestalks and the legs can retreat into dedicated cavities in the body, the wings fold tightly, and have a protective sheath. leaving a heavily armoured near-perfect ball. Spectans lacertapila use this condensed form in hunting, dropping on their prey in high speed. The impact does not cause them harm, thanks to their heavy scales, but usually kills their prey immediately. The crushing of the prey is also useful because the short and wide structure of their mouth is not well suited for tearing. They do have their claws, though, if further tearing is necessary.
