Key traits & Identifiers
- Look like an animate human skeleton, usually with large butterfly or moth wings.
- They are not actually flesh-less, their flesh is invisible to the human eye except for in certain conditions. When visible they usually have either very pale or very dark skin, often with a blue or green tinge that is most visible on the lips.

Description:
Fae phantom are not a biological species in the regular sense, both because they are undead and because of the association of the species with a profession. Like all undead, Fae phantom originally belonged to another species and were redefined after they took on their immortality. They are all Fae, but come from different species of Fae and therefore their appearance varies quite a bit. However these differences are reduced in our world because their flesh becomes invisible here, producing the visage of a winged skeleton.
Fae phantom guard the passages between worlds, mainly in protection of those who became lost, but also to deter threats. Most Fae are naturally capable of passing from world to world, but they are not able to remain and survive between worlds in the space known as The Inbetween. Milenia ago, when it was decided that pathways between should be guarded, a Fae guard was created, and since they did not want to intrude but also could not survive The Inbeween as living beings, an ancient ceremony was adapted to make them undead.
Fae phantom are forbidden to involve themselves with the worlds they are guarding, and generally only look over outer worldly visitors. Special cases are considered in worlds where magical life is not hegemonic, like in our world, and seen as being endangered. They will never act out of their own volution, but organizations like the Magiontology Society may seek their aid in specific circumstances.
