Gnomish Metal Casting

The gnomes has always been great thinkers and tinkers, everyone knows about the great gnomish inventors and how gnomes seem to just accelerate in this field. This fairly new technology called gnomish metal casting has revolutionized how small generic metal parts are made. It is now possible to cast multiple simple designs at once, improving the construction pace by more than 10 times for certain parts. The cost of crafting this way is much higher, but if you want speed you have to sacrifice cost, as this technology improves we will see huge impacts world wide.   The dwarfs call this new form of metalworking for down right blasphemy and claims the old way is the only way. The elves are more open minded when it comes to casting, yet they find the requirements behind the technology somewhat extreme.
Access & Availability
The information and know how is still spreading throughout the known world, as it is a new technique that requires quite a vast amount of investment and skill. Rumours about this technique of casting has spread through the entire continent, yet only the gnomish region and all parts of the riverlands has adopted it.
Complexity
Gnomish Casting is very complex, there is need for a foundry with a sufficient heat source, and molds of almost impossible craftsmanship. Most working foundries are kept hot by magic or dragonfire, this isn't cheap and by no means obtainable by the vast majority of metalworkers.
Discovery
Discovered in the capital city of the gnomes by a team of metalworkers aspirering to become tinkers but never had the wealth to support them. They worked hard at multiple metal works and over time earned enough to pay for an office were they could work on designs. They quickly came up with ways to slightly improve their work space but the breakthrough came after an accident with a pot of molten metal. Casting of metal was very new, but they quickly crated reusable molds and succeed in their first cast.
