The Carinae jumps to darkspace and is immediately attacked by a gargantuan creature similar to an aboleth, but with impenetrable armour and adapted to space. Nineteen are killed in the initial attack, which took out a third of the ship. The ship Dimension Door to adjacent darkspace to escape.
