Windwood

Physical characteristics
Windwood appears as a light wood with a slight yellow tone. It is a soft and easily carved wood, and is resistant to unintentional wear and rot. It can regenerate small holes and accidental breaks or fractures within a few weeks if left alone. Perhaps the most surprising property is its floating ability. Carved windwood floats about 3 feet above the ground, but can travel higher or lower with the right modifications, such as shape, weight, and wind speed.Usage
Windwood is used by the Sianicpeople to create floating boats and rafts called inderi. These boats are the main method of transportation in Siana, allowing for the carrying of goods without the use of animals. The windwood tree is cultivated in many parts of Siana outside its origin in the Talman grove. Due to its floating properties, it isn't useful for much else besides transportation and decoration. Rulers of the Iksandi Empire when Siana was under its reign sought after Windwood for creating litters and moving thrones, emulating the use of the inderi but adapting it to a much more regal reign. Very few of the chairs are still in posession of Iksand and Civiel, most having been returned to Siana or destroyed. Lady Morgan of Tylen still owns a moving litter for traveling in caravan along with her court.Origin and Cultural Significance
Windwood trees originated during the Wrath of the Gods when a large group of Sianic refugees took shelter in burrows under the Talman grove, which was sacred to the goddess Fenuia. Celian, deity of wind, and Fenuia, goddess of living things, worked together to enchant the trees of the grove to give the people an extra advantage against the deities of earth, water, and fire. The windwood inderi allowed people to escape Kereos and help others get to the sacred grove. Today, Sianic people use windwood to create boats and floating statues. Windwood is associated with the sky, sacred bonds, protection, and movement. For this reason, some traveling musicians use windwood rafts as their stage, invoking the deity Celian, who is associated with performers, messages, and storytelling. Many houses also have floating protection charms around places of significance, such as the hearth and at the head of the bed.
