2A The ArAN

The ArAN machine has been placed in the middle of a fenced meadow, between the forest and the beach on the southern side of Väntholmen, next to a farm.   The ArAN consists of a shiny metal cylinder on the ground, one meter high and two meters wide. Black letters on the side of the cylinder form the words ArAN.   The first time the Kids see the ArAN, it is surrounded by twenty adults sitting and standing, talking and looking out into the distance, seemingly at peace. One of them is Lena Thelin. She is a middle-aged woman with curly blonde hair, white clothes, and a proud gaze. If asked what she is doing in the meadow, she says she's studying insects modified by radiation from the Gravitron.
