Red Angel
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
The murals and records of the “Red Angel” are few and far between, more so than the typical scraps of information of the ancient empire. It is only the fact she has been referenced multiple times that leads scholars to conclude that she was, at one point, an important leadership figure.
However, there is evidence of these scraps of information being tampered with. Murals and artistic depictions are all defaced, and the only surviving written records are official, likely having been protected by law or magic, but even still any accompanying name with the title were burned or broken away. The consistent damages incline others to wonder if perhaps there was an effort made to erase her before the empire fell.
Though her images are defaced, her general shape hints toward the title referring to a woman. She is further recognizable by the unique red color of her armor and the crimson wings upon her back, where other soldiers wore green and orange.
The presence of wings has led to speculation that the Red Angel was perhaps not a member of any of the mortal races still living, as none have wings.

Representation & Legacy
The best preserved record that exists of the Red Angel is what appears to be a document of progeny. Much like images of herself, the offspring are likewise defaced, but the many lines that spiderweb from her family tree hint toward a vast number of offspring. Her progeny outnumbered even the largest modern city of the Midnight Expanse. So many, in fact, that it brings into question if this Red Angel’s race produced litters of young, rather than one or two at a time like humans.
Most scholars are more inclined to believe that the progeny include adopted offspring, and this theory inspired the tradition of nobility care for orphan wards in their cities.
