Rahnai
Physical Characteristics
In some ways, the Rahnai are not so different from the Harinae, though to say so would be an immediate great offense to the noble tribes. No two rahnai look exactly alike, though they admittedly are more uniform than the patchwork makeup of the savanna tribes. They have bilateral symmetry, though the torso and legs could appear from vastly different origin species. All of them are capable of walking bipedally, though many will move on all fours if their arms are long enough to match their legs.Their heads have long since deformed from the appearance of their previous race, to reflect the visage of the demon they consumed to be so cursed.
Reproduction
Whether rahnai are still capable of sexual reproduction is unknown, for none have ever witnessed two mating or showing any inclination toward doing so. They do not even appear to have external genitalia or characteristics capable of reproducing.Instead, the species is propagated by the curse that overtakes the truly desperate within the Vi’Rok mountains. The primal need to feed and drink, to survive; so much so that when they run out of the rare bird or eggs, they turn to devouring the flesh of demons they manage to slay. To slay a demon is difficult enough, but if one should win and eat the creature, its twisted will is said to take over the mind. Mutations that follow, over the course of months, turn the desperate soul into a new, twisted life: a Rahnai.
Diet
Rahnai will eat any flesh they catch, regardless of origin. They are among the few creatures that will even hunt demons as prey, as the creatures are the only plentiful creatures found near their mountains aside from birds. They are quite adept at mimicking the voices of people to lure the demons in; a trap that works well for other sentient races as well.Perception and Other Senses
The eyes of the rahnai are quite keen for a short distance, though farther details are notably harder for them to discern. Within their mountain homes, this is less of a detriment, as the tangle of glass spires makes for many turns and corners, with little occasion for long distance surveillance. Their primary senses are hearing and scent, which allow them to track their prey through the twisting obsidian forest until they corner or lead them into an advantageous place for an ambush.Intelligence
The rahnai have inherited the feral nature of demons, but retain an unsettling amount of their previous intelligence. They were capable hunters in life, and they are deadly in this new form. They are capable of planning ambushes, have the patience to wait, and even mimic voices and sounds to lure their prey closer.
