Monster Seers

This Organisation is as much rooted in mystery as well as controversy, for their true strength or amount of members is unknown. They neither seem to share a common background, motivation or uniform. They come and go as they wish and offer their services and warning to whom they wish. It can be a small village or a bustling town.

One thing however is clear, whenever they show up and make their presence known conflict awaits. For they always bring bad news and take much with them.

Their Service

The Monster Seers, train in locating and predicting the movement patterns of various kind of monsters and some of them specialise in killing them as well. They roam through vast and deep forests, rivers and deserts. The more isolated the better. Whenever they notice an unusual amount of monsters turning towards a settlement of any kind, they show up and tell them of their fate.

Of course for a certain sum of money they would be willing to redirect the monsters course, to pass the village and leaving them unharmed.

The amount of money asked depends on the severity and type of monster, taking material costs into consideration.

Structure and organisation

The joining requirements and hiring process is mostly unknown and doesn't seem to follow a specific pattern. Some pick up lost travellers or adventurers, other hire Shepherds, some get in through lucky connections and money.

Most who become monster seers will never step food into the organisations headquarters nor get to know who leads it, this right is reserved to those who have done great deeds for the group and rose up within their ranks. Although there is a leading group they do not enact many rules upon their members, most of their interference lies in specific tasks, handed out by ravens or other ways to the assigned seer.

However there is a set of very specific rules, that when broken cause the seer to disappear without warning, never to be seen again.

Controversy

Many nations, towns and other folks do not trust the monster seers good intentions. They believe the members to guide the monsters to the settlements instead of just spotting them by chance. It does not help that the sum even for smaller tasks is quite hefty. But they can't simply get rid of the seers either, for their predictions are almost always right and without them a small settlement does not have a chance to prevent disaster to strike.
