A Lover's Gift

There are many who associate it with harm, curses and life energy. It is also one of the ways to tell, if one is mortal of magic origin or something else. It is spilled when one wishes another harm or during accidents.

Blood.

Rarely however it is used in the context of showing affection and love. It is not commonly a sign of life time partners.

A ring pale and red

The blood ring is a sacred sign. It shows how far one is willing to go for their chosen partner. Whenever two souls meet and the stars decide, that these two were meant for one another it is tradition to use some of ones own blood to forge and craft a wedding ring.

The blood droplets are crystallised through a long and labour intensive process, turning it into a ruby red pearl. It's shine and colour reflects the craftsmanship and dedication that went into the process.

It is then imbedded in an equally handcrafted ring, usually carved out of bone or pale wood. The ring itself is decorated with small patterns and symbols of various forms and sizes all meaning something special to the elven and reflects their deep feelings towards their partner.

After all this hard work, the ring is presented and gifted to the significant other and if the proposal of a lifetime shared is accepted a second ring made by the other person is crafted.

While a ring is usually shattered and burned if the feelings where not mutual, it is possible that one collects several of those rings. They don't have to be destroyed. Keeping them is a symbol of deep appreciation and admiration, falling just short of love.
