Church of Koaldus

The Church of Koaldus has proven to be a constant thorn in the side of the Mokari for centuries, they are belligerent to outsiders, especially non-humans, and have been known to kill any who try to leave their order. This has led to the church being outlawed by the Mokari Monarchs and the church's leadership exiled.

Structure

The church is very secretive, but it is known to have agents called Servitors that mete out the Heir of Koaldus' directives. They have clashed countless times with the Nomad Lords of Queen Elara and continue to be a nuisance to the Mokari queen.

Culture

The practitioners of this faith are highly private but regularly fight against the appointment of Nomad Lords, believing it to be a rejection of Mokari culture and acceptance of their nomadic lifestyle. They also rarely travel with the nomadic bands and can usually be found in Melkine, even if the church leadership can not enter the city.

Public Agenda

The church claims to want to bring all Mokari under the rightful worship of their god-ancestors, twisting the view of Koaldus and Jafeera into that of husband and wife, with Koaldus being superior to Jafeera. The truth in their actions however suggests that they merely wish to overthrow the rule of the monarch and replace it with that of the Heir of Koaldus.

Divine Origins

The church's origins are shrouded in mystery, but their own stories say they had always existed. In truth their earliest known activities were in 2367 A.W. when they first began actively undermining the Mokari leadership and attacking outsiders on sight. In response, the Heir of Koaldus at the time was exiled along with any future successors. This drove the cult into hiding and it quickly became more difficult to track their movements.

Cosmological Views

Their beliefs state that the world was crafted by the entity named Koa, who created humans and his wife Jade to live and rule. He also crafted lesser creatures to serve the humans before he himself descended onto the world as a godly king. This is how they perceive Koaldus and Jafeera, as well as their own place in the world.

Tenets of Faith

The church believes that Koaldus, the first king of Mokar, never died of old age, but instead was always divine and left Mokar in the hands of his wife Jafeera. They also believe that the current nomadic lifestyle of is heresy to their innate nature as rulers of the world. Mokari are meant to rule all others, they say, and all other races should bow to them.

Priesthood

The Servitors act as agents and preachers of the faith, secretly organizing gatherings to spread their beliefs against the current Mokari leadership. The Heir of Koaldus lives in exile, never staying in one place for long and always evading capture from Queen Elara's personal army.
