On the eastern side of the country the dialects very greatly, changing depending on how north or south you find yourself. The island of Königbucht has its own distinct dialect, which is seen as posh compared to the rest of the country, but don't tell them that. The north-western side sounds similar to how many in Valkenheim sound, at least to the rest of Steinwohners. The south-west sounds harsher than the rest of the country, and is the stereotype dialect for the people, because most Steinwohners who live outside the country come from here, and it's big on trade so many traders are from here or interact with them.
Culture and cultural heritage
A mix of war and trade is strong influences in this culture. The lumber industry is also highly valued, as Steiner wood is seen as the best lumber in the eyes of many.
Shared customary codes and values
Showing strength when you can, and compassion when needed is a common motto among Steinwohners. Being at your strongest not only physically, but mentally is the only way one can be their true self.
Common Dress code
Most walk around in common clothes (Yes lederhosen but not the kind of you're thnking about) unless you are to be in the presence of royalty or an important figure, then armor is to be worn, the more important, the more armor, and the nicer too.
Art & Architecture
Newer and nicer buildings use a style similar to Baroque, while older buildings are tutor styled built from the Steiner wood.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
When invited to a neighbors house, it is courteous to bring a gift. Unless this person is very important, the value is not very important, it's merely tradition to bring at least something, usually a drink or food for a stranger, something hand crafted for important figurers or someone you want to impress, and jewelry for royalty.
Birth & Baptismal Rites
Many name their children with the names of great leaders beforehand.
Coming of Age Rites
Being able to split a Steiner log in one swing is the coming of age rite for men and women, and is expected to be done by age 13.
Funerary and Memorial customs
Those who die are put into caskets made from a dark wood tree of their home town, and are buried in a forest near their homeland, funerals are short, mostly just the transporting and burying if they are not an important figure. Death is seen as a natural step in life and those who die are now part of a powerful force.
Common Taboos
The wild boar is seen as a strong but stupid being, and in their culture strength is nothing without wisdom, so things with the boar as its symbol is seen as offensive, and calling someone a "Wildschwein" is a grave insult. The same can be said about the Raven, which is smart but weak, and just as useless in the mind of Steinwohners, it's symbol and the word "Rabe" is offensive.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Silver is seen as a color of strength, and Gold is of power. They use these colors and metals anywhere important enough to use them. They see large men as attractive, and longer beards are seen as a status symbol, the earlier and longer you can grow one the stronger you seem. Muscular women are also seen as beautiful, as women play an important role in Steinwohner society and bare most of the same physical responsibilities as men, even combat in certain roles.
Gender Ideals
Men and women play similar roles in politics, although men are king more often than not. But women play a large role in leadership roles, especially in military and guard positions. Many original tribes were matriarchal, and value women greatly. Men and women are seen as equals, although since neither genders usually take on more of a nurturing stance, children are usually raised in a very demanding environment.
