Amelior

The crystalized sap of a tree long extinct, this blue-green material sometimes referred to as Blue Tears, Ringdrop, or a handful of other names is the object of affection for powers across the world. A hardened formed of The Nexa's power whos potential applications are nearly limitless, while it's supply is strictly finite. The power hidden under its crystalline surface is potentially enough to move mountains in the right hands.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Usually in smooth rounded shapes like amber regularly comes in and has the toughness of a rock candy. Its blue-green surface reflects the light passing through it as it is mildly opaque. When put in harsh light you can almost see veins of sparkling light coursing through it.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Highly reactive with other forms of energy from the Nexa, they cannot be stored in bags of holding or else they will release all of their energy and the next time the bag of holding is opened it will spring out.

Geology & Geography

In the Era of Rebirth it is found scattered amongst the ruins of the Gilded Empire and the Outer Wilds. Some seek out the source of Amelior but so far nothing of substance has reviled itself. Just rumors of a tree taller then a mountain from which Amelior flows from its trunks. But most people assume such rumors are wild fantasies that are nothing but myths.

Origin & Source

It originally came from the sap of Songspire trees, who grew from the seeds of fallen pieces of the Great Ring. During the Prime Rift almost all of these trees became portals too the Nexa and were destroyed. Now people assume whatever tree Amelior comes from must be extinct, although some still hold out hope. If they are right is up to the GM and can make for some interesting conflicts.

Life & Expiration

Magically sustained it is not known to expire or deteriorate, staches of Amelior can be found in ruins from ages past and they are still just as potent as when they first formed.

History & Usage

History

In the Elder Age, a small nation of humans was the first group to discover Amelior, before them the customrace kept the materials power to themselves. They worshiped it like a divine force and spoke of a great creature floating in the Nexa who they also worshipped. The human nation used the power of Amelior to almost conquer the entirety of Embrosia and became what is now known as the Gilded Empire.

Discovery

The first humans to use it stole the secrets of Amelior from the customrace many centuries ago. It has now been rediscovered by factions and adventurers pillaging the remains of the Gilded Empire and continues to be a legendary material which is highly sought after.

Everyday use

There can be no truely common use for such a magical material. It's applications are only limited by the creativity and power of those who seek to harness it. In a stitch it can be bit down on and it will react based on the deep-set emotions and desires in that creatures mind at the time. Simply wishes of vanity or ultimate power will not be answered, but instead the deepest callings of that person.

Cultural Significance and Usage

The customrace hold Amelior at a near divine level, they believed it to be a gift from the power they worship and hold it very dear. Often using it ritualistically they would commune and exist in the realm of the Nexa for a time period.

Manufacturing & Products

Some wizards and highly advanced magical forgers have been known to imbue items with the magical properties of Amelior. It is a very hard process and can go awry easily. There is plenty more uses left to be found as this world rediscovers this ancient power.

Hazards

The use of Amelior can come with surges from the Nexa, unexpected outcomes, and other consiquences when the Nexa prooves to be too much to handle. Often it results in situations where when used under duress, you are out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Environmental Impact

While on a small scale it poses little to no threat, on a large scale the walls between the Nexa and the Material get thinner and thinner. It can eventually result in larger surges and cataclysms like the Prime Rift.

Distribution

Law & Regulation

Some cities and governments have banned its sale and trade while they try to monopolize it. This has created a massive black market price for this substance that various factions and buyers continue to fuel.
Note For GM

Amelior should be viewed as a storytelling tool more so then a mechanical tool. It is something that can raise the stakes of a fight, be a form of mutually assured self-destruction, a complete gambit, or anything in-between. It's use should never be without consequence but regardless its effects should be pronounced. Ask the player what their goal is and find a way to "monkey's paw" it, don't make the punishment so severe so that they never will use Amelior, but make sure the feat comes with an adequate price.
