Fey-Touched

Description

  The fey-touched are a mix between fey and human. Sometimes, this is the result of one human parent and one fey parent, but more often, the fey-touched are simply fey children without magic (or without enough of it to be accepted by their kin). They’re abandoned by their fey parents into the care of humans to be raised as one, often with little or no knowledge of who or what their actual parents are until they go through puberty and signs of their magical lineage begin to manifest. It's not uncommon for human parents, once they realize their child is inhuman, to mutilate a fey-touched child, sawing off horns or slicing off tails and wings, leaving distinctive and painful scars.   Fey-touched beings often look down on half-breeds as less-than, due to their mixed blood, even though by any objective measure they are essentially the same. They are long-lived due to their fey blood, and may survive for two or three human lifetimes barring death by violence. It's not uncommon for fey-touched folk to have an allergy or aversion to iron.   They often get along well with humans, since they’ve spent most of their lives around them, but this is not always the case. They may tend towards their human characteristics, being sociable and helpful, or they may favor their fey characteristics; being haughty, aloof, and manipulative. Sometimes they sway between the two, fighting their own nature at various times. Regardless, they are universally viewed as mischievous tricksters. They are not known for being loyal, and tend to use and discard people as suits their needs at the time, with little regard to the pain or suffering they may cause in their wake.    

Character Build

The fey-touched may be indistinguishable from humans, or they may have deformities, features, or markings left over from their fey parent(s). They tend to be thin and lithe, lacking the bulk of a well-muscled human physique, and are often smaller in stature than humans. They may also have noticeable inhuman features, such as larger heads, longer arms, longer fingers, etc.   They are not shapeshifters - once you've settled on the appearance of your fey-touched character, this is how they will look going forward.   Fey-touched features may not be overly bestial in order to retain individuality with other races.

    Roleplay Redux Racial Abilities:

• Fey-touched are granted the "Invisibility" racial. You may fade from view for up to 3 rounds depending on the roll. Hostile actions end the effect prematurely.
