Qalrya (Caul-rye-uh / Cal-rye-uh)

Qalrya was invented by Qalvi Varai in 3,209 LE, the same year that both Thothian organizations of Varai's were founded: the Gate of Thoth (3,209 - 3,215 LE), and the House of Thoth (3,209 LE - present). The use of Qalrya by Varai resulted in the Last Breath, Second Wind War (3,209-3,215 LE), a widespread conflict which was waged between the Gate of Thoth empire and numerous polities such as the Dafiela, the Sierran Dwarvish Crown, the Southern Protectorate, the Queendom of Morrisette, and the Heilish Throne.    The Death Art of Abnegation was so powerful that, had Varai survived his ultimate assassination in Arbane, SSE Leona (3,215 LE), or had Varai taught the Rune of Abnegation to any of his lieutenants, the Last Breath, Second Wind War was projected by numerous historians to outlast the Split-Helm Time, and at least outlast it by a whopping two millenia...   Qalrya involves a methodology which is not publically understood, nor even adequately conceptualized by fringe researchers such as Saphielle Aurora, Selorzuh Landmover, or others. All that is known is that it harnesses an eldritch rune called the Rune of Abnegation, discovered by Qalvi Varai.   The Death Art of Abnegation is taught as a concentration at the Academy of Birthright, which historians have described as a "training funnel" for the Macabre Triumvirate.

Qalryan magic features the Runes of Abnegation and Thoth as primary magical gestures.
