Alta had a pretty normal Kochmak “childhood” (due to them probably teaching survival and combat to trample over their foes) until he reached around 10 years old, in one of their nomadic travels. In the middle of a very terrible storm where some of the Kochmaki died, he was dragged away as well, but luckily he survived, but was injured and lost. He was taught to survive, but normal means meant nothing when there are not tools for survival, so he observed closely the animals and learned from them new ways of survival, adapted to a new mentality, believing he was dragged to this lush and rich place for a purpose, he became a (sort of) wilderness enforcer, that traveled often to settlements and spread the importance of taking and giving back to nature (sometimes by force as well). Moist Mother Earth showed him the way - Mokosh, in the language of the Noriki.

He mostly travels alone and avoids hurting animals or plants unnecessarily, killing or harvesting only when needed and using everything to its fullest.-
