The Paeri Woods

Paeris embodies the winds of change and the quiet voice within that whispers when no words make sense. Ever moving, never still, Paeris encourages freedom of thought, openness to growth, and the courage to trust one’s instincts.  

Symbol and Depiction

  Symbol: A hummingbird in full flight, wings blurred in motion.
Depiction: Paeris is shown as a delicate yet dazzling hummingbird, gliding and darting with uncatchable grace. Her feathers shimmer green with a soft cream-white belly, and her blue beak gleams like sapphire. Often, a soft aura of blue sparks trails behind her, symbolizing fleeting presence and divine intuition.  

Beliefs and Values

  Followers of Paeris prize free thought, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. They reject rigid traditions and believe that truth shifts with time to live well is to remain curious, flexible, and intuitive. While logic is valued, it is said that intuition carries wisdom logic cannot grasp. Paeris’ faithful often speak of “feeling the breeze before the storm,” believing that the spirit knows what the mind does not.   “The sky changes by the hour — why should the soul stand still?”  

Temples and Worship

  Temples to Paeris exist in the highest trees of the Paeri Woods, constructed by Wood Elves with care and reverence for the natural world. These temples sway with the wind, never rigid, always open to the skies. Among the Birdfolk, shrines are simpler floral groves in village centers where blossoms and petals are offered to Paeris as tokens of beauty, fragility, and trust.  

Legends and Tales

  It is widely believed that most inhabitants of the Paeri Woods have crossed paths with Paeris without realizing it. His speed and subtlety are such that he can pass by a village unnoticed save for a sudden breeze or flash of color in the trees. Some say the feeling of clarity during a deep breath of forest air is Paeris whispering truth to an open soul.  

Mysteries

  Though deeply tied to the Paeri Woods, it is unknown whether Paeris wanders beyond its borders. Some claim he is the spirit of the forest itself. Others believe he rides the winds across the world, unseen and unbound, bringing change wherever stagnation lingers.
