Karosh is the restless sea, the uncharted abyss, the storm-tossed voyage, and the dread of what stirs in the deep. He represents the ever-changing tides of the world and the truths that lie beyond comprehension. His domain is not cruelty, but the terrifying honesty that mortals control nothing in the face of the sea.  

Symbol and Depiction

  Symbol: Tentacles breaking the surface of the ocean, with a glowing eye visible beneath the waves.
Depiction: Karosh is often shown as an immense kraken, so massive that ships appear as driftwood beside him. The waters in his imagery are always turbulent, storm-churned, and violent, a reflection of his domain. His glowing eye beneath the surface is a constant reminder: something ancient watches from below.  

Beliefs and Values

  Karosh’s followers are drawn to mystery and challenge, they do not seek to tame the sea, but to ride its fury with boldness and grace. They value instinct, improvisation, and the thrill of trusting the unknown. Though often viewed as pirates or madmen, many of his faithful are simply those who refuse to live a life of certainty. They act when others hesitate. They follow opportunity as it appears, adapting to its rhythm without fear.   “You cannot command the tide. but you can learn to dance in its pull.”  

Temples and Worship

  No formal temples to Karosh exist. Instead, sailors follow old customs: casting coins into shipwrecks, speaking quiet prayers before storms, or offering a drop of blood to the sea in return for safe passage. His followers say that reverence is shown not in words or stone, but in how you brave his domain, with laughter in your heart and salt on your skin.  

Legends and Tales

  It is said that the deepest trench beneath the Karoshi Isles holds a gateway, a portal to a distant realm of nightmares. Some believe that Karosh communes with the Mind Flayers who dwell there, acting as their herald or protector in the Material Plane. Because Mind Flayers cannot pass through the trench themselves, they travel instead in their nautiloid ships, bypassing the crushing depths.  

Mysteries

  Karosh’s rumored link to the Mind Flayers remains one of the great oceanic enigmas. How a god of the Material Plane forged a connection with beings of the Far Realm is unknown, yet the stories persist. Some wonder if Karosh is not merely a god of water, but of interplanar secrets drowned long ago.
