Usmarea
Lightning flashes beneath gray clouds amidst pouring rain thick enough to drown the skies themselves. Seals huddle together on a rocky shore reaching out into the sea, far past the sandy beaches and the forested edge of the northern wilds. This is Usmarea, the Coast of Storms, home to the Astuorë people of old.
Usmarea was the home of Astuorë people in the First Age, and became largely uninhabited at their departure in the early years of the Second Age. It was a rocky coast void of trees, as the Tenwän Wilds kept well away from the salty sea beyond the shore. Sand filled the cracks between the rocks, and bedrock rose from the sea as large, flat slabs where the largely semiaquatic fauna of the region gathered to rest.
The Astuorë settled in permanent habitats between the forest and the shoreline and built ships with which they could traverse the shallow coastal waters for their hunting trips. The region frequently encountered storms and violent gusts from the north as well as the sea, blowing away the worst of winter's cold and summer's heat.
