Anëhtoma Accord
Chaos and violence ruled in the early days of Merientei life in their new home of Ullonwï. Clan fought clan in a bloody effort to survive, all the while weakening the people at large, along with their chance to survive the times ahead.
It was the effort of Isänie, along with some of the the most respected Merientei, that brought the clan heads together at the end of a short period of conflict known to history as the Ullonwï Upset. Over the next weeks new rules and laws were decided upon to restore peace and stability between the people and hopefully prevent anything like the Upset from happening again.
Document Structure
Clauses
The core of the treaty was simple: clan shall not fight against clan. Whatever disagreements arose would be brought before the Anëhtoma, where their equals would judge the situation and offer solutions, as well as justice as need be.
Outside of the core clause, in the spirit of the assembly and its purpose other clauses were included, such as Clan shall protect clan. Whenever a clan was met with an outside threat, whether that was human, environmental or anything else, it was the duty of others to offer aid where and however they could. A failure to do so to the satisfaction of the Anëhtoma was grounds for punishment, and possible exile of the clan.
Clan shall protect the Anëhtoma. No clan within the Anëhtoma could go against the decisions made within the meeting, and were expected to respect and protect its power and position as an enforcer of law and stability by following the rules themselves.
In addition there was an added implication to protect the integrity of the Anëhtoma, and to ensure that each clan had a fair and equal part within its confines. Another implication was a prevention of corruption or deals made against the assembly between clans within it for their own, selfish gain. These, however, were not mentioned by themselves and were more of an abstract guideline.
Each clan within the bounds of the Anëhtoma shall have a voice within it. This was to ensure that no one was left outside of the decisionmaking process, but also to establish the responsibility of each clan to send a representative and be part of the discussions. As Merientei treated each clan as an entity of its own, it was decreed that one vote per clan would be sufficient.
