The group went to investige Berranzo, the Mines of Madness, and found a mindflayer who has set up residence within. They faced him and his experiments and barely got away alive.

After one day of traveling northwards the groups arrived in Berranzo - or what is left of it. About 50 years ago, the mines were abandoned, after the miners found something deep inside the earth and went mad. Since then nobody set foot in the mines or the settlement. The group explored the ruins and found the corpses of the people left behind in the mines, killed by each other or themselves. Scratched and smearings littered the walls and a big layer of dust fell over everything. Not even animals came back to this place. Only a few tools and mining produce were left. The mines itself have been collapsed and had to be reopened by the group to gain access. They headed into the mines and quickly ran into a swarm of rats, seemingly being able to maintain spell-like effects around them. Still, they disposed of the rats rather quickly and continued on their way.
