Ariel
Goddess of Rain and Wind
Ariel is the single most powerful entity in her part of the Elemental Chaos, spanning from the realms of Air to the realms of Water. She also has a habit of interfering with the material plane.
May Ariel bring gentle storms!
While modern and magical means for transportation exist, sea voyages are still the most efficient ways of transport long distances. The airships popularised in Aëdela and further developed alongside trains in the Baratox Conglomerate are limited and less reliable. Land transport is slower, especially for larger hauls. This means Ariel and her servants have long held great power over trade. In fact, one reason alternative transports aren't invested in more is a fear that she might take offense.
The Lady of Storms is extremely unpredictable. When she influences the weather and the seas, she's as likely to give clear skies and winds for sailing as she is to call on a thunderstorm and dangerous waves. Sailors know they need to provide wards and offerings every voyage, because they'll never know when they'll need it. She can be swayed, but it's hard to make her listen.
Those who have studied her patterns insist that she's not vain, as mortals know the word. Rather, Ariel doesn't want mortals to forget how powerful nature is — not just her storms. They exist because the forces of nature lets them. For that, the storms deserve gratitude and respect.
