Some Starships
The Archer-class Corvette
Designed by Praxlis Drive Yards, meeting the demand for a small but nonetheless efficient multi-role starship. The corvette can be used for several assignments, including escort duty, interception, light combat or priority transports. The ship features excellent sub light engines and is still small enough to enter planetary atmospheres as well as to land on their surfaces. The ship's weapons complement is a good match for most pirate ships and may even threaten other small capital ships. The corvette's small hangar houses one squadron of fighters as well as one long-range shuttle. There is also a large cargo bay, able to carry up to 2,500 metric tons. This cargo space can be converted to increase the troop capacity, to enlarge the starfighter complement or for other purposes depending on the mission profile. Archer-class corvettes are usually assigned to the more remote areas of Auriga Space where the Praxlis Command cannot afford to send larger ships and the corvette serves as a peace keeper well in its role.
Broadcast Communications Ship
The Broadcast-class Communications ship, built by Praxlis Drive Yards. It is an older ship type which was first introduced shortly after the release of the Archer-class Corvette. The communication ship's role within a fleet is important. Transmissions to and from Fleet Command to the fleet are brought through the communications ship., when a fleet is acting far away from the sector command. But the ship's large sensor array also enables it to detect enemy activity long before this can detect the fleet. This tactical advantage is an important part for a successful operation. Most of the ship's interior is used for the sensitive communications technology. Furthermore, the ship supports quick and clear transmission among ships in the fleet, although it stays in a safe distance since it isn't primarily a combat vessel. The ship does have some plasma guns and pulse lasers for defense, however, as well as a squadron of fighters for additional protection.
Kraati Carrier Cruiser
The carrier cruise is the largest and fastest of the Kraati capital ships to date. It was designed early on when first obtaining jump drives and utilized robotics heavily both in the day to day operation of the vessel, and the day to day upkeep of its fighter squadrons. Though it does make use of extensive robot workers, it still requires a crew of 1,486 to efficiently run the vessel. The upkeep of the fighter bay and the fighters themselves requires another 300 crewmembers.
The hanger bays are separated into two decks both housing a wing (72) of fighters plus additional craft. All of these craft require a huge amount of space to land on, also large fields of access. The bays are large open parking garages so to speak, each fighter is allocated a 20x20 meters space and all work is done in that space. Four of the six bays are 120x60 meters. Two are much larger affairs stretching roughly four-fifths the width of the vessels 330 meters. The bays are roughly 60 meters deep in the shallowest section and 120 meters deep in the deepest. These larger bays account for over half the fighter cover by themselves.
The bays' floors are armor plating as thick as the hulls on most other Corvettes. The artificial gravity fields are divided into 120x20 meters rectangles; there are six of these large fields. Since the bays themselves are built to accommodate craft with landing gear. The Kraati used the carrier cruiser for the first few years of its existence in space.
A certain amount of heating is required in any vessel in the hanger bays, if a bay is too cold to work in the required, maintenance on fighter craft will not be done. Maintaining and heating the large bays requires a totally free generator, thus four instead of three were installed. All in all the upkeep of the bays, plus the power requirement make for a very expensive carrier. The carrier cruiser runs on twelve nuclear engine cores and four Nova Corporation thrust core drives that give it a high gee rating and agility. The engines appear on either side of the launch area in the rear of the vessel.
The carrier cruiser has been given weapons bays as a priority over turrets as their destructive capacity is greater.
