Sammal Metsa
Backstory
Ranger from the hamlet of Longburrow near Frent's northern border with the Barony of Pavenveld. Sammal is apprenticed to his father, the forester and seargent of Lord Frent's militia archers. He has earned a reputation by tracking bandits for the sheriff, and stray packs of goblins who manage to reach Frent for the militia. His people have long been relied upon to manage the risks of allowing unsavory folk or beasts to enter or linger in Lord Frent's lands.
Appearance
His pale pinched face is hidden in the cowl of a patched brown and green cloak, and wreathed in long loose brown hair. He gazes around calmly, with large eyes that penetrate the mysteries left behind by others. He carries a heavy longbow and moves with unexpected grace through obstacles and rough terrain.
Motivation
Sammal is expected to inherit the role of Yeoman for the hamlet of Longburrow, being well practiced in his fathers trades and as the eldest son of his family, but his father is still young and healthy, so that will be many years away, gods willing. In the meantime Sammal would like to explore the world and earn a reputation of his own as worthy of such a position. The southern ridge of forests bordering Grisen barony is larger and less developed, and could be an excellent opportunity to hone his skills against unknown challenges, and perhaps even earn a position of his own making under Lord Frent along side his father.
Catchphrases
"Survival is not for the weak." A blunt adage reminder of the harshness of nature.
"Lost? Good, now you're learning." One of the first concepts learned as a scout or forester, to keep a cool head under pressure and draw on the information your surroundings provide.
