Daneta Zaglis

Backstory

Ranger suspected as a poacher and smuggler, who shows up in the market of Frent from time-to-time with fresh cuts of meat "from an old goat that stopped giving milk" or a "hen that stopped laying." Knows the game trails and shepherd's paths of the border region, the greater Tagge Hills, and has visited Grisen Barony and the markets of Grisekulle several times.

Appearance

Willowy build with black hair tied back neatly, dressed in a loose patchwork of grey and green. Her eyes are furtive, and she bears a sly grin as if she knows a secret that would shock onlookers. Daneta has a calm demeanor, appears ready to move at any moment, and a sarcastic remark ready on her tongue.

Motivation

Daneta is granddaughter of the Yeoman Ulf of Steinsbaer, hails from his hamlet and and grew up amongst shepherds of the stony hills above Frent village. Her future has often been spoken of by relatives as if it were decided long ago -- that she would marry and settle down with some dull shepherd. Her ambitions are slightly more grand -- to gain her own license to harvest beasts from the high lands, or hold charter of a caravan to visit other realms.

Catchphrases

"The mountain has eyes that always watch." Used by the shepherds to imply the risks of wild predators, and by outlaws who retreat into the high rocky terrain to evade the law.

"The wind whispers secrets, and I listen." Used by the shepherds to refer to the arrival of bad weather and need to move flocks to safer pastures, and by outlaws to refer to details of the location of valuable goods or resources that can be taken.
