Cinuan Colonial Authority
The Cinuan Colonial Authority was the original government of Cinu, serving as a democratically elected body that oversaw the colonisation of the planet in the very early years of its development. Tracing its origins back to the original colony ship, the CS Cinu, the Cinuan Colonial Authority was comprised of the various political and bureaucratic leaders that oversaw the entire mission. The CS Cinu was transformed into an orbital colonisation hub, from which all colonisation efforts were conducted. The first settlement to be established was Al-Mular, settled in 2187. Following this, Zawilah, Erfoud, and Diade were settled, with the rest swiftly following. While the CCA was democratically elected, technically the entire colonial operation was under the eye of Commanding Officer Achraf Hamadi. While Hamadi had the authority and power to shut down any political operation he did not approve of, he chose instead to respect and defend equality and the democratic process, a belief that would persist throughout Cinuan history.
In 2197, the CCA moved from the orbital hub down to the planet's surface, settling in Al-Mular. This action led to Al-Mular becoming the de-facto capital of Cinu. Cmd Hamadi oversaw the establishment of the Colonial Assembly and the Supreme Court of Cinu. With Hamadi as leader of the executive, this made up the three branches of the Cinuan Presidential Republic.
The idea would last until the Presidential Election of '00. Hamadi turned 92 in 2200. Thanks to modern medicine, he had the capacity to lead, and lived a healthy life, but this was not going to last. Hamadi had held an almost dictator-like authority since the days the first Cinuans boarded the CS Cinu, but times had changed and a whole new generation had taken their place. While they held tremendous respect for Hamadi's dedication to democratic causes, he still held control over the Assembly, and so would his successor. Two candidates were nominated by the assembly; Mizrak al-Faoud, a liberal democrat and reformer; and Rihan Sayed, a democratic socialist and parliamentarian. The vote had a turnout of 92 percent, which remains one of the largest in Cinuan history. With a narrow victory, Rihan Sayed was elected President of Cinu. In her election speech, her very first act was to issue an executive order to establish a new constitution disbanding the role of President and transforming Cinu into a parliamentary democracy. Hamadi, satisfied with the result, retired from politics and settled in Diade. With cross-party support, the Constitution of Cinu is rewritten to abolish the role of President. Cinu would become a parliamentary republic. President Rihan Sayed steps down and returns to her role as leader of the Cinu Social Party, which maintains its majority hold over the Assembly.
In 2208, Cinu became a founding member of the First Lordanian Republic, as well as an early adopter of the Lordanian Dollar. At first, the government ruled as a unitary state, while maintaining as much democratic freedom as it could. However, as national regions grew in strength and self-sustainability, so too did their individual cultures and desires for independence. This began in 2211 with the formation of the Republic of Kassala, followed by Diade, Erfoud, Tarimi, Shamari, until the planet had effectively fragmented into nearly 200 independent states and territories. The CCA collapsed, but the spirit of democratic togetherness continued, and from the ashes of the CCA rose the United Nations of Cinu. Uniting under former president Rihan Sayed, the most powerful of the States met in Al-Mular and drafted the Cinuan Charter and established the means by which the planet would remain united, but separate. The United Nations of Cinu was founded in 2224, officially ending the Cinuan Colonial Authority.
Disbandment
The CCA ceased to exist in 2224 when it was officially replaced with the United Nations of Cinu. Many politicians and administrators who had been involved in the CCA found themselves working, not only for the UNC, but for the local regional governments that sprang up to replace the CCA.
