Kashmeel Mazigh

Kashmeel grew up in the neighborhood of New Damon in Hydrus, Vespmar.   At age 10, he watched his parents kill a home intruder that had him backed against a corner.   After the school year, at age 11, he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Paramenthia, Adura.   He attended Eilene's Schol, where he was picked on for his lowborn status, and eventually, for his persistent mental failings.   Despite this, he was a model student, and strong athlete for the school of Bellatorus.   At 13, the nightmares began. He dreamt of the night he watched a man die. His parents would become monsters in his dreams. Sometimes they’d kill each other, and sometimes they’d kill him.   Eventually, the nightmares would stop, and he’d never have another dream - good or bad - again.   Over the next five years, strange things would occur in young Kashmeel’s mind - illogical things that would sometimes make him believe that his mind was working against him: He’d black out for minutes at a time, be unable to pay attention, struggle to read, struggle to differentiate between colors, remember faces he’s known all his life, suffer incapacitating migraines etc.   The day of his graduation, he could hardly cross the stage thanks to these headaches, and that’s when Vali spoke to him for the first time — “Congratulations Kashmeel.” Suddenly, he was struck with abject terror, and would’ve very nearly made a scene if it weren’t for the comfort found in his parents proud smiles.   He spent weeks researching, partially afraid that he was losing his grip on sanity.   Kashmeel will never identify as a Kalashtar. He’s learned enough about them to believe that to do so means already resigning himself to death.   He began praying to Mormekar for the first time, but is not too confident that his prayers will be answered.   Unable to bring himself to tell his family the truth, he lied.   When he told them that he’d like to spend a year traveling before settling down in Vespmar, they had no reason not to acquiesce.   Now, Kash is armed with everything he’s going to get in Paramenthia, and must set out to gods know where if he’s going to save his mortal soul.

FRIENDS

Waleed Lamontagne

Wizardry only felt natural to the high born high elven Waleed, and he does adore the craft. Ever since learning of the great Sarcystle, he’s been eager to go. Why, he’s been stocking books and looking for properties for years now.

Aurelia Murad

Aurelia was the half elf girl in the know — An information broker even in school. Her bardic charms - inclined towards the college of lore - will be put to great use in Mercircle, where she intends to make it as a musician, or do what she always did: Get paid for what she knows, as well as what she can learn.

Family Ties

The Mazigh’s

Amanda Mazigh — Mom

Virago Assassin

Xander Mazigh — Dad

Serpent Commander    My parents have always had a deep respect for Mormekar, and often pray to him before leaving for work. When your job ties you so closely to death, you learn to dish it out with reverence. Kash still wants to be like his parents, even after witnessing bloodshed at such a young age. When this is over, he wants to join The Scaled Guard .

Magnolia (Maggy) 9 — Sister

Bradley Dubois — Maternal Uncle

You know that one uncle who was always going off on the many places he’s been and the many stories he’s collected? That’s my uncle Brad — A natural born adventurer and survivalist whose devotion to Urian only encapsulates the god's love of freedom. He’s a chaotic man, who gets no greater rush than scaling the biggest mountains in the world and celebrating with woops and cheers at their summits. Last he told me, he was headed for The Dawnstruck Wilds.

The Gladwells

Ayla (12) — Cousin

Justus — Uncle

A locally respected and influential judge/avid worshiper of Maal — Husband of my mom’s sister, without whom my family would have no connection to Adura.

Rowan 11 — Cousin

Willow 19 — Cousin

My closest friend and eldest cousin.

Audre — Paternal Aunt

Sharply contrasting with my dad’s stony demeanor - all hard and sharp edges - my aunt is tender and lovely. She is something of a bard, but prefers a song for only her ears in the comfort of her secret garden, over the cheers of a demanding crowd. Looking at her life, one can plainly see that when she left Vespmar, she left it at the door.

Brains match bron in this teenage Kalashtar bent on saving his mortal soul from the psychic spirit inside of him.
