The Toothless Specter
The Toothless Specter is a bar run by Mr. Crawley and his organization The Frogmen. This establishment is located in the sewers under Avarna and is inhabited by goblin workers, thieves, and even political officials from time to time. Food and drink are served by the goblin chefs, gambling is organized by Mr. Crawley, and a fighting pit runs regularly in the center of the establishment. The name Toothless Specter comes from a regional folktale about a specter that terrorizes the populace during the night. It is rumored that Mr. Crawley himself defeated this specter due to it interfering with his business arrangements.
Purpose / Function
Originally, the Toothless Specter was a service room used by the workers of Avarna. When Mr. Crawley decided to set up shop in this area, he made a deal with the workers. He would employ his goblins to work the sewers and let the sewer workers take credit for it.
Alterations
Mr. Crawley set his office up in the emergency drainage room. He had it fitted with watertight doors and bolted furniture, allowing for him to flood the room at levels that allow for him to excel in combat situations and trap any enemies within.
Defenses
The bar is defended by a barricade at the front entrance guarded by a guard of goblin soldiers.
Tourism
The main draw to the Toothless Specter is its gambling rings. All gambling done in this establishment is under Mr. Crawley's rules and gamblers are not restricted by the harsh laws and taxes enforced by the guards in Qas'zurhir. This draws in both thieves and political officials to the bar to partake in high-stakes games with Mr. Crawley's team of elite goblin gamblers. Most of Mr. Crawley's profits from the bar come from his workers winning from arrogant gamblers expecting to win over his goblins with ease.
Recent Events
A group of travelers made an agreement with Mr. Crawley to supply him with alchemical ingredients in exchange for halting any and all harsh treatment to creatures within the establishment. Since then, the fighting pit has been repurposed to act as a stage for performers to entertain the crowds of the bar.
