A rather... strange and powerful altertech, encountered extremely rarely and requiring immensive preparations to actually be uncovered and brought back, not to mention install and power up. Only about a dozen of them was discovered until now, all of them installed into an asteroids and small planetoids, linked with many well protected generators.   It fires pitch black ray of unknown particles (nobody really knows or has any theory what does it exactly focuses and amplifies) that are about 100x stronger than graser of similar ray width and length. All that people know is that it works... and in a pretty terrific way. While graser fired against planetary targets either sublimates or irradiates everybody in vincinity, this weapon drives most of those who survived its more direct effects mad.   Its special quirk is ability to actually weaken and damage particle shields in a way not actually known. It isn't enough to instakill well shielded battleship, but it will still force it at least to go full-shield, practically kicking him out of battle for good. Making it a quite terrible weapon when it is placed to defend a strategic location (for example on a moon above a Fortress World).
