Eluk

Grizzled Coachman of the Able Carter Coachhouse

“Drive’s all I do… destination’s your choice, though it hardly matters in the end.”

Roleplaying

Eluk is a man of few words, keeping a stoic expression and responding with short, clipped phrases. When spoken to, he often gives a curt nod, avoiding prolonged eye contact. While he is generally respectful, there's a subtle bitterness in his tone, especially when dealing with customers who treat him as little more than part of the carriage. When in his element on the coach, Eluk’s face occasionally softens, and he hums lowly to himself—a rare moment of peace in his otherwise gruff demeanor.

Personality

Reserved and observant, Eluk spends most of his time listening rather than speaking. He’s wary of authority and often bitter when taking orders, hinting at a history of following someone else’s lead at a personal cost. Though he can seem irritable, he’s not unkind; there’s warmth buried beneath his grizzled exterior, surfacing briefly in moments of vulnerability or genuine connection.

Motivation

Though he claims otherwise, Eluk yearns for a sense of independence and purpose, away from the routine drives he’s accustomed to. His bitterness hints at a past regret, possibly due to missed opportunities or personal sacrifices made for others.

Background

Eluk’s life has been tied to the road since he was a young man. Hired early by the Able Carter Coachhouse, he proved a reliable driver but found himself overshadowed by those with more ambition. Over time, Eluk’s dedication became his trap, leaving him bitter and weary, clinging to the one thing he knows—driving. His kindness toward animals, especially his horses, hints at a gentler nature, but years of disappointing travels and thankless jobs have hardened him.
