Roleplaying

Bwirse is outwardly mild-mannered, with the demeanor of a somewhat awkward scholar. He often appears lost in thought, eyes darting away as if mentally composing his next academic paper. When he speaks, it’s in a dry, slightly droning tone, designed to repel rather than engage. Bwirse rarely meets anyone’s gaze directly for long, especially if he suspects they might pry deeper. If pressed, he will launch into dull, overly detailed explanations about gnomish dialects, doing his best to bore his audience and deflect attention from his true motives.  

Personality

Bwirse is shrewd, calculating, and cautious, carefully projecting the image of a harmless scholar while concealing his real motives. He’s not easily rattled and has a cold pragmatism that drives him to secure treasure, knowledge, or other advantages at others’ expense. Though lacking a strong moral compass, he’s disciplined and sticks to a meticulous plan, preferring manipulation over confrontation.  

Motivation

Under the guise of scholarship, Bwirse seeks riches and recognition. He is determined to uncover valuable artifacts or treasure that could elevate his status and wealth, and he’s not above hiring muscle to achieve these goals. His interest in the PCs is purely opportunistic, hoping they’ll lead him to something profitable.  

Background

Originally from Greyhawk, Bwirse studied under several scholars but grew frustrated with the slow path to status through traditional academia. His “research” became a convenient cover for a life dedicated to pursuing lucrative opportunities. While he dabbles in linguistic studies, his real expertise is in quietly surveilling potential targets, like the PCs, while gathering resources to make his own play. He’s loosely connected to Kran, with whom he’s shared information and resources in the past. His current scheme involves shadowing the PCs to assess if they uncover anything of worth, while his hired men stand ready to relieve them of it.
