Mortgrâth
Mortgrâth is a plane ruled by the dark entity known as Numanlöthe. It is a place where forsaken souls are made to toil under the 'burden of their sins' until they are granted redemption.
As a 'divine' plane, Mortgrâth's physical laws are subject to the whim of its ruler, in this case, Numanlöthe. Below the surface, a maze with no end stretches out into the unreachable horizon. New souls are chained to large, spherical boulders. These boulders represent their sins and they must drag them, thousands at a time, across the surface under the scorching sun until it sets below the horizon. Unfortunately, a single day in Mortgrâth can last up to one thousand years. One of the crueller aspects of this punishment is that souls serve the same length of time, regardless of how great the sin. For example, a petty thief will receive the same punishment as a rapist or murderer.
They must also deal with numerous obstacles in their way. Flying insects will swarm in their faces, not only biting them, but also laying their larvae under their skin which will eventually painfully burst out. All the while, the relentless sun beats down on them, burning their flesh raw and the metal chains of the boulders become white hot.
Geography
The dominating feature of Mortgrâth is a Labyrinthine-like maze that has no end. It lies below the featureless, sun scorched surface. There are mountains on the horizon, though these appear to be mere illusion as they can never be reached.
