The Birth of a Legend
It is said that the great
explorer Darosi was born in the spring of the 298th year of the
Time of Rebuilding while his mother was returning home from gathering in the woods. At that time, the
winter and
summer winds met at exactly her location, the skies cleared, and she went into labour. It was quick and painless, aided by the winds as if they were calling him to the skies.
The winds blessed the child with curiosity but cursed him with a lust for adventure. This is why he would leave his hometown for the city of
Darapur, join the crew of the
Harani, set sail on a rare day of clear skies, and travel further than anyone had before - or has since.
Darosi was brought into the skies by the winds in order to follow them and find what lies at their origin.
The Truth
"As any scholar would say, the person was not made by the legend but the legend by the person."— Takalia
The story of
Darosi's birth is both widespread and fanciful but it is not true. He was born in the spring of 298 of the
Time of Rebuilding and it was windy but in the small village of
Regeri and there was nothing supernatural about the process.
There is a slew of evidence about the true circumstances of
Darosi's birth including the signed records from the then village chief and the interviews and testimonials later recorded by people researching his life.

Mythic Influence
Elements of this myth are widely believed and have made their way into some artistic works as well, including several paintings, songs, poems, and the infamous play
Love On The Skies.
One element that is true and appears in the myth, is that the skies were unusually clear when
Darosi was born. This appears again in the presence of the
Adventurer's Trail at the same time every year since the first flight of the
Harani.
"I don't mean to compare myself to the most famous person who ever lived but at least the wild story of how I got here is true."— Javen Kolos to Erevard Baxkaltus
