In the skies there's a land where the winds gently blow,
Far from the endless storm, water springs forth,
And hope rushes always and everyone is loved,
Out on the skies, there's a place for us.— Renve Italli, For Unto Skyhome
A Place of Legend
The various tales told of the
Skyfarer's place of origin paint radically different images of what it was like. In some, Skyhome is a place of beauty, of safety, and of plenty; in others, it is a ruined land that the
Skyfarers left to avoid extinction.
The first type of story begs the question "Why would they leave this paradise in the sky?" and to that often the other story is conjured, to tear down paradise and force an evacuation. Others say that the answer lies in plain sight, that they would leave their home and go forth unto the skies for the same reason that
explorers do now; the sky, distant lands, stunning vistas, even adventure itself calls to them.
A Place of the Real
If the Skyfarers are real then it is only logical to conclude that they came from somewhere.— Tir Eran, Letter to a Colleague
There is plenty of evidence to confirm the existence of the
Skyfarers, some found on
Breharan, many on the
Monument.
It has never been the goal of any
skyship to try to locate Skyhome but scholars are working on theories based on the locations and best estimates of the age of the evidence to determine which direction it may be.

An Educated Guess
The scholars of
Jamaira believe that Skyhome must be - or have been in the past - a place well-suited for people to live, otherwise the civilization that would later become the
Skyfarers could never have thrived enough to reach the point to tame
flying steeds and develop the skills to navigate the endless skies.
Given that no known flying creature is capable of traveling beyond
Breharan and the
colonies and that Skyhome has not been found in those locations, it is found likely by scholars that the island of Skyhome was once much closer to the region but drifted away over time - or perhaps sunk into the
Floor becoming lost in the
Void.
"I heard that the Harani went missing searching for Skyhome."
