Outpost 4 Burns!
The lumber town has burned say the latest reports from the transport captains. Officials have confirmed this and begun a humanitarian operation to help those affected. Anyone willing to donate funds or goods can do so at the drop site located outside of the skyport.— Snippet from Happenings of Darapur 26EX Issue 122
The Old-Growth
Outpost 4 was established in 16 EX as a lumber colony due to the high-quality large trees located on the skyisland. The lumber produced was in high demand and the colony grew very quickly, being - for a time - the most populous of the colonies with a population of well over a thousand people.
As the Outpost Burns
This industry and the entire town being built of the same wood did lead to the town burning almost entirely to the ground in the summer of 26 EX in a blaze bigger even than that which destroyed
Kramath. There are many written records of the burn in both official documents and letters sent back to friends and family in
Darapur and
Breharan at large.
The rebuilding effort took several years ending in 33 EX. The people who rebuilt the colony were very proud of the rebuilt colony now planned instead of grown organically, greatly increasing people's ability to traverse the town and having created many more community spaces.
A Colony Lost
In 41 EX, the first signs that the colony would sink into the
Floor and - eventually - the
Void below surfaced in the regular drift reports of the
Cartographer's Guild. By 43 EX the situation was dire and the entire colony was evacuated. This event is now known as the
Sinking of Outpost 4.

The Neighbors
The island of Outpost 4 was heavily forested and home to many
fae which led to a large number of interactions between them and the people of civilization.
There were several
faekin among the population of the colony, each with an origin stranger than the last. One was found in the broken trunk of a tree after it was split by a lightning strike.
