The Gravebound

The Gravebound (also known as Klearic Faymal, The Alchemist, and the Wizard-King) is an unknown being that use to be the Klearic Faymal of Reality One. He is the inventor of the Rotspores and upholds a plan of destroying all known realities.   He has somewhat of a long-distance romantic relationship with Vencyne Amakiir, a tall-dwarf rouge, who flirted with him in his formative lich alchemist days. He affectionately refers to her as his "cataclysmic concubine."  

Life as Klearic Faymal

According to The Alchemist, he was called Klearic Faymal. His life was full of grief and sadness. He worked and studied endlessly to impress his parents yet they were always dissapointed. He was not discouraged and tried harder.   Eventually, his family were killed. His father made sure to remind him of their dissapointment with his dying breathe. This was a truamatic blow but Klearic slowly started to move on with the help of his brother Limonar. They joined an adventuring party together and helped to do as much good as possible.   However, in a fight against a monster Klearic's friends (Limonar, Zangrim, Kleth, Zulynn, and James Wavebreaker) all died. Kleth vowed that he would never fail again. He would bring them back whatever it took. And he did.\  

Klearic Faymal Attempts Necromancy and Reality Traversal to Save His Friends

Klearic studied every source of magic to bring back his family and friends. Eventually, he succeeded but they weren't the same. They were undead abominations. He mourned them all over again.   Then it occured to him that perhaps he could pluck them from other realities. He would just take versions of his friends and bond with them, and that might be close enough. But he didn't get that far. He looked into his life in other realities. He looked into the lives of others. Everyone was suffering or struggiling. Everyone had problems. Some had diseases. Some had abusers. Some had no way out.   He tried to help for a while, but more problems would always arise somewhere. Sometimes helping one person would hurt another. Everyone was suffering. Everything was suffering. Klearic resolved to stop the suffering.

I will not rest until I bring things back to their original state. We are all destined to die. Life as the Alchemist

He knew that he couldn't destroy the whole of reality in one lifetime, so he used his studies to become a lich amnd perfect a perfect plauge that could destroy all life. Klearic, known at this time as The Alchemist, spend 5000 years inside of a labratory at Gandalf's School, known to outsiders as Salsvault, creating the perfect strain of Rotspores.   For unknown reasons, a brief window of time right at the end of his morbid creation was locked in a time-loop. And moments before he created the perfect strain he met Vencyne Amakiir, a lovely Eladrin woman, who desired to spend eternity with him destorying creation as his "cataclysmic concubine." He offered her lichdom, and was so pleased to hear that she is "thinking about it."   Vencyne traveled with another version of Klearic as well. Though excited about having someone to share his time with, The Alchemist was confused at the appearance of another version of himself. He hadn't started spread the Rotplauge to any other realities yet. He had only just finished the first step on that quest. It's odd.  

Life as the Wizard-King

Before it was called the Gravebound, Mabel Bloodsworth knew him as the Wizard-King. A terrible shadowy man who ruled over her world. The Wizard-King had previously tried to destroy Mabel's world, The Maleovlent Wastes with the Rotplauge, but that destruction was halted for 100 years when Limonar the Light, the Wizard-King's brother, resisted his destruction. The details are very unclear but according to Mabel, the Wizard-King became "something-else" to finally defeat his brother, Limonar the Light.  

"He was always a bad guy, but he was human - or human enough - until he left the castle and went outside of the knowable. When the Wizard-King came back he was something else entirely. Not a man. Not human. Hard to explain exactly, he altered my memories after his return. I quit after... or I was fired. Hard to tell." - Mabel Bloodsworth

  Shortly after this, the Wizard-King resumed his destruction of the Malevolent Wastes and Mabel, his former employee, worked with with others to stop him. He was finally about to kill Mabel and her party when a bright light transported them to the Remaining Realm.  

Life as the Gravebound

At some point later, he was called The Gravebound and he killed Jimmy's entire party before Jimmy also escaped in a bright light. According to Mabel and Jimmy, the Gravebound has spoke of destorying several others, and they seem confident that their current plane is the only remaining realm.  

Connection to the Scarlet Brotherhood

The Scarlet Brotherhood seem to answer to the Gravebound in some way, with there being a mention of him as a master of Slyris and Trisha (two members of the Scarlet Brotherhood in Seaton) in Mr Dory's Journals.
