Halfilisk
A Special Guide by Adrian Laverack
For the character profile, see Virgil.
All throughout history, the peoples of Limitless have considered the two categories of sapient species, demons and folkses, incompatible with each one another. If ever a demon and a folk were to reproduce, that child would be considered an abomination. Many of these different abominations have been documented over the centuries, the most common being hybrids of imps, lȳtfolk, and fiend-types, though humans are also commonly mixed up with demons as well.
One hybrid, the human and the basilisk, was one not known to history. At least, not until 30 years in the past, when a Basilisk by the name of Eddie came to the village of Lȳt Middel and married Jane Pugh. Their son, Virgil Pugh, is the first half-human, half-basilisk ever known. The fellow has never let anyone study and document him... until now, as who would be better to write about someone than their own lover?
And so young magician, intellectual, and fiance of Virgil Adrian Laverack sets out to write a guide to the "halfilisk" (as Virgil likes to be called).

Basic Information
Anatomy
While a pure basilisk's true form (as in: the form they are born in and the form they instinctively shift back to) is their serpentine form, the halfilisk's true form is his human one, most human traits inherited from his mother.
Shape-shifting Properties
As opposed to a pure basilisk's ability to shape-shift into any sentient creature they have a general understanding of with little limitations, the halfilisk's ability to shape-shift is seemingly limited to a set appearance for any species he shifts into. For example, he cannot shift into a serpentine form with purple scales; he is only capable of shifting into his natural green.
Genetics and Reproduction
Oh, well...
Dietary Needs and Habits
Unlike pure basilisks, who are thaumativores, the halfilisk is an omnivore who requires a balance between magical and grounded food lest he wants to lose control over his shape-shifting powers. To maintain such balance, he eats a mainly human diet, mixed with berries of magical origin foraged in the Forest of the Silver Horn and pure magic supplied to him by Adrian Laverack himself.
His favourites are elemental spells and pie.
