The Liminal Chronicles is an urban fantasy series, based on Japanese myth and folklore, about redemption and found family, set in a small town. Umeji Tatsuya tries to start his life over after leaving the mob. Despite his best efforts to remain low key, his past won't stay secret for long.

Just when things are looking up, Date, a kitsune with a centuries-old grudge against his new mentor arrives in town, commanding vicious ogre-like oni and bringing destruction in her wake. Worse yet, the one person who could drag Umeji back into the mob shows up on his doorstep, under Date’s control.
Is Umeji the next victim in Date’s sights? Or is there more to this magical threat than he wants to believe...

But they're skeptical that he's left his Yakuza past behind. Meanwhile, Ibaraki Douji is slaughtering kitsune and stealing the weapons scattered across Japan that will allow her to become Shogun. When the legendary sword Umeji carried is stolen, Umeji is blamed for the theft. He's done playing by the League's rules. With family and friends by his side and all of kitsune kind counting on him, Umeji vows to recover the sword and stop Ibaraki.
