Android

An android is a humanoid robot made with copper, iron, gold, and diffent alloys depending on what will they be used for. Historically, androids only where used to carry objects or helping on repetitive and monotonous tasks. But the fear before the Great War forced engineers to design new kind of androids and upgrade the current models using steam machines in some cases.   There's no information on who or where they were first invented, but the oldest register we have, now saved on the Aclius' The Brassbound Library show that the inventor could be Allaç Me'ir around the year 780BT, but there's not enough proof.   They're powered using the Energy rune and a complex machine called Extractor. And, eventhough   Currently there are five types of android models:
Golems.
Servants.
Windrunners.
Hounders.
Sentinels.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Golems

The first model ever invented. They're around 2 meters tall and very voluptuous and robust, with a wide torso made of reinforced steel. The edges of the plates have visible rivets, and some pieces have industrial engravings to improve the adhesion of the materials.

Their arms and legs are extremely strong, with a square design and functional. The hands have 3 big articulated fingers each one can be changed with a specialized tool (clamps, blowtorch ...).

The head, with a rectangular shape, is smaller in proportion to the body. It has a medium-sized circular hole that emits a dim light (like a lantern). This light can be slightly adapted to light a dark room or places with low visibility.

They have an endoskeleton reinforced with beams and pistons designed to hold any object's weight. This skeleton allows the robot to carry and lift very heavy things with precision and delicacy.

The Energy plate inside the Extractor isn't enough to power the Golems so they have an intern steam motor fueled thanks to a small furnace they have in the center of the torso. Coal and other kind of combustibles can be used as fuel. To expulse the extra steam there are two thin chimneys in their back.

Servants

From 1.4 to 1.7 meters tall, this model is slender and stylized with a slim brass torso. The joints and hinges are decorated with filigree details, giving it a more ornamental and sophisticated appearance.

Their arms are long and slim finished with delicate hands with five thin fingers designed to manipulate small and fragile objects. The legs are designed to allow smooth and elegant movements.

They have an oval-shaped head similar to a face. With a single eye in the form of a faceted crystal that changes color depending on the android's status (blue for resting, green when active, and red for alert). In the inferior part of the face, there's a dispositive simulating lips that move when talking.

Unlike Golems, this model's endoskeleton and machinery are almost entirely hidden and are made of aluminum with cables and small gears that allow fluid and graceful movements.

This model only has the Energy plate inside the Extractor. But requires constant maintenance after some time.

Their articulations are finely calibrated hinges and gears designed for maximum precision in delicate tasks like serving tea or serving the table. They have various compartments in the torso and arms that hold different utensils and tools.

Windrunners

1.5 meters, slim and aerodynamic, with a lightweight frame made of titanium and copper alloys. The torso is slim and streamlined, designed to minimize wind resistance.

They have long, articulated legs, designed for speed, with feet adapted for running on various surfaces. The arms are thin and equipped with retractable claws for climbing or grasping objects while moving.

Their face is small and flat, with a face that has two elongated crystal-like eyes that glow in shades of blue. The head is mounted on a flexible neck that allows 360-degree vision without turning the body.

Its endoskeleton is lightweight yet strong, made from a flexible alloy that absorbs impacts during high-speed running. Synthetic muscle-like fibers contract and expand with superior efficiency, allowing for fast sprints and jumps.

They're equipped with 2 Extractors that feature a self-recharging system, and a small steam engine to supply energy in case of emergency.

Hounders

1.8 meters tall when standing up, and 1.2 when in 'dog-mode'. Resistant and adaptative, with a dark and flexible torso that allows both protection and mobility. They're equiped with multiple lense-like sensors and antennas around the whole body that allows them to detect and percieve it's surroundings.

Their arms are strong and polivalent with hands capable of use may kinds of tools. The legs are designed to walk, run and climb with paws capable of adjust on any terrain.

The head looks like a helmet with an integrated mask, it has multiple lenses and visors that can move and change to adapt to diferent light conditions. Small vents in the mask allow air to be filtered in hostile environments.

They only have one Extractor as they're since they are designed to search over short distances. Some more advanced models have other kinds of sensors (such as heat detectors, magic radiation, or sonars for long distances).

A compartment in the chest can store samples or data collected during the scan. It also has space for small tools and emergency devices.

Sentinels

Around 2.2 meters. Imposing and armored, with a massive torso covered in iron and bronze plates that are reinforced with a coating of magical stone, designed to absorb magical and physical impacts.

Large, muscular arms, ending in hands capable of wielding heavy weapons or launching attacks with devastating force. The legs are equipped with hydraulic reinforcements that allow him to perform quick movements and powerful jumps.

The head is angular shape it has an aggressive appearance with a "face" composed of a metal mask that hides a set of glowing red lenses. These lenses provide precise, multi-vision, allowing the android to track multiple targets at once.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Golems

This model are usually used in construction and tasks that require brute strength, such as lifting metal beams, moving heavy machinery, or forging components in industrial settings.

Servants

Built for domestic chores such as cleaning, cooking, serving the table, babysitting, taking care of old people, and small reparations in the home. They're capable of keeping simple and little talks and keeping company of the house inhabitants.

Windrunners

They're used as long distance mailman or package-dealer as they're equipped with a compartment on the back to carry letters, messages or small packages. This compartment is protected by a lock that only the robot can open.

Hounders

Designed to explore dangerous or uknown terrains. Can operate on extreme climates, underground. They're capable of collecting and analizing data in realtime.

Sentinels

Designed for front-line combat, capable of fighting multiple enemies and survive on intensive war conditions. Can operate alone or in coordination with other combats units.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Almost every capital city and surroundings have Androids lurking around. They can usually be found in cantines, hotels, houses of high lords, constructions, building zones, police stations, etc. Depending on the culture and resources of each country, Androids will be more or less common For example, Droilesh and Ornash are known for having the most Sentinels and Golems meanwhile Upros and Aclius have the most quantity of Servans and Windrunners.

But some Androids have managed to form societies, mining or stealing materials so that the Golems could then build new androids. Those are commonly called Bronzeforged.

Average Intelligence

The exact origin of their intelligence remains a mystery, but it appears to have emerged following the Transformation Wave after the Great War. Over the years, their understanding of the world has steadily increased. Remarkably, the newer models exhibit self-awareness despite no changes in the manufacturing process. Interestingly, intelligence isn't tied to a specific model, some Sentinels display greater intellect than Servants or Golems, and vice versa.

Naming Traditions

Android's serial number has the following scheme: X-00,0x0x-Y. With the following rules:
  • X represents the model’s initial letter:
  • G for Golems
  • S for Servants
  • W for Windrunners
  • E for Explorers
  • S for Sentinels
  • The numbers before the comma form a two-digit prime number that follows the previous one in sequence. If the number exceeds 97, it starts again from 02.
  • The numbers after the comma represent the fabrication location code. For instance, the code for Mechanical Night workshop in Ornash is 5A.
  • The final letter denotes the initial of the engineer's surname.
  • So, a Golem built by Allaç Me'ir in the Mechanical Night workshop in Ornash may have this serial number: G-435A-M.
In Bronzeforged's societies the last number usually is changed by a random letter or number, same for the workshop ID.
