Lord L'Bael Urothenes

Lord L’Bael Urothenes of House Urothenes was the controversial and powerful Mage-King of the Crown of Corona. Over ten thousand years ago, he established the House of Urothenes and later its lesser branches, the House of Pelagoph and House of Cynic. His influence extends to even the furthest reaches of Okean, and there is little to no culture that has not been influenced by Lord L’Bael or his people in some way. His legacy was fraught with warfare, manipulation, and death on such a widespread and unprecedented scale that his name is considered taboo in certain regions.

Lord L’Bael is recognized as the founder of Eastern Okean and was posthumously deified. A common saying among Coronians is “act as though L’Bael watches,” owing to his lasting hold over the modern world. His only recorded speech, the Brightest Flame, is a code of conduct for each and every successor to the Crown. Until Lord Apex’s rule, ten thousand years later, no ruler has challenged L’Bael’s word.

In recent years, Lord L’Bael’s legacy has been the subject of heavy criticism due to the Lord Apex Urothenes’ coronation.

“It appears to me that our dear Father has done little more than abandon his children with his sins.”
— Lord Apex Urothenes

With Lord Apex’s rule, many of the edicts put into practice during Lord L’Bael’s era are set to be undone. Lord Apex has reopened government jobs to those not of Lord L’Bael’s lineage, abolishing a law that has stood since L’Bael first took the crown. House Urothenes has already begun distancing itself from its lesser houses in an attempt to become an independent organization. It is highly likely that by Lord Apex’s death, the Crown of Corona as it stands will cease to exist.
